5G Standard Finally Defined as 20Gbps Speed, Launching at 2018 Olympics

5g-speed-standards
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has agreed on a preliminary definition for 5G standard. Recently a conference was held from June 10th to 18th where the speed more than 20Gbps more than was attributed to 5G.
So if a mobile network should provide a data speed at up to 20Gbps, it would be termed as 5G. The current 4G LTE mobile networks operate up to the speeds of 1Gbps which is about 20 times slower than the 4G networks.
Now let’s talk about the real speeds that users will get. 5G is expected to deliver an actual speed varying from 100 to 1000 Mbps that is again a 10 to 100 times increase over the usual 4G speeds.  If these standards are fulfilled as promised, the current internet speeds would seem like the vintage 56k modem.
Just like the term IMT2000, which was used for 3G services, the 5G services are likely to be named IMT 2020. The currently popular 4G services were named as 4G advanced. According to the ITU, “WP 5D (Working Party) will define in detail the performance requirements, evaluation criteria and methodology for the assessment of new IMT radio interface.”5g-speed-standards-
With 5G, the next-gen 4K and 8K online video playback will be more viable and this could also be used to cater millions of IoT devices inside a large are together.
The ITU expects the commercial 5G to be used from the year 2020 after its international spectrum distribution in 2019 and it is expected to be showcased at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.

How to Get Free Genuine Windows 10 Even If You Don’t Have Windows 8 or 7

free-windows-10-how-to
It’s an old news that Windows 10 will be available as a free download to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. This upgrade will be available to the users free of cost if they will avail this upgrade offer within one year starting from July 29. Now what if you don’t have Windows 8 or 7 and you want to get your hands on Windows 10?
According to a new process highlighted by Microsoft in a new blog post, you can avail free Windows 10 without Windows 7 or 8. If you are running the Insider Preview of Windows 10, build number 10130, you will be able to get the final release build on July 29 and further releases. Microsoft highlights that this version will be genuine.
Right now if you need to get a Windows 10 Preview build, you are automatically opted in to the Insider Program. But as the release date comes nearer, the Insider program for Windows 10 is changing. At the time of Windows 10 launch, you will have the option to opt in the Insider Program and you will need a Microsoft Account (MSA) that you will have to use in your Windows 10 PC.
Next Windows 10 Insider Preview update will prompt you to log in with the same credentials you used in Windows 10 Insider Program Registration. Strangely enough, when Windows 10 will be launched, you will be able to install Windows 10 Insider Preview even without proper account credentials.
Confused? Here’s the simple story: This loophole was spotted by Ars Technica, who pointed out that anyone running the Insider Preview of Windows 10 Build 10130 before July 29, will get a free upgrade. Subsequently you will get all the regular updates.
So anybody who upgrades to Windows 10 Insider Preview before July 29, will get a guaranteed upgrade to Windows 10. So, if you want to avail the free Windows 10 (and not having Windows 7 or 8, or their genuine copy), I would recommend you to install Windows 10 Preview as soon as possible.

Google, Microsoft, Apple and Mozilla Working Together On WebAssembly For Faster Web

webassembly-javascript-google-mozilla
The genius minds at Google, Microsoft, Mozilla and Apple are coming together to create WebAssembly (also known as wasm). This is a new binary format – bytecode – to be used in browsers in future and promises about 20 times faster performance. Bytecode is a machine-readable instruction set that is faster for web browser to load as compared to high-level programming languages.
The reason behind this new binary format was to overcome the problems in the execution of JavaScript. The web hasn’t yet utilized the full potential of asm.js and the giants like Google, Microsoft, Apple and Mozilla are teaming up to create this successor.
JavaScript creator and former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich said that asm.js is awesome but once the engine optimize for it, the parser becomes very hot spot especially on mobile devices. The transport compression is needed for compression to save bandwidth but the decompression before parsing hurts and overloads the system. He adds that JavaScript isn’t going away anywhere in future but WebAssembly would makes things easier.
WebAssembly will provide developers a single compilation target for the web and it will be developed as a web standard to be implemented in all browsers. This will make browsers more efficient target for compilers as compared to plain JavaScript.
WebAssembly is expected to grow into portable bytecode for browsers. The early prototypes are showing some advantages like the binary representation is 20 times faster to parse (compared to equivalent asm.js).
The main teams working on WebAssembly are PNaCl team of Google and asm.js team of Mozilla, and they are working to combine their best. There is no formal standards body behind it and it is still in the early stages of development but with major browser makers backing it, WebAssembly has a bright future.
With WebAssembly’s arrival, JavaScript isn’t going anywhere. It is expected that both of these will work side by side. TechCrunch writes that some parts of application may use WebAssembly based modules while the user interface will be written mostly in JavaScript.

BlackBerry Wants to Provide 9 Numbers on Single SIM in India

blackberry-simcard
In a revolutionary step, Canada-based communication solutions firm BlackBerry has revealed that it is in talks with regulatory authorities and telecom operators in India to launch virtual SIM solution that will allow customers to use up to nine different numbers through a single SIM.
The company is ready with the technology and is currently working on regulatory clearances.

The company officials said that the technology could hit market by the end of the year.
Blackberry had acquired virtual identity solutions provider Movirtu last year. This is a cross-platform technology, hence users of iPhone or phone-based on Android or Windows operating system can also use it.
This technology allows an individual to have up to nine identities using a single SIM. While from technology perspective a user can choose to have nine numbers from different operators, in India the possibility seems remote as the regulatory environment in India does not allow the customers to choose more than one operator.

It should be noted that according to the reports from Reuters, with a market share so thin, the company is now reportedly making Android phones that will be released later this year. BlackBerry is struggling badly to match the customers’ expectations and has failed to keep up with the Android and iPhone.
The company has initially arrayed the solution in certain parts of Africa and is in discussions for roll-outs in Europe and other Asia Pacific countries as well. Once implemented the solution is expected to revolutionize the technology.

Google Search vs. Apple Spotlight Search: The War Has Begun

apple-spotlight-vs-google
For many of you, search is undisputedly the Google search you perform on your phone or PC browser by accessing the website Google.com or maybe some other services like Bing or Yahoo. But the search has evolved from this confined space to give rise to the contextual search and this is the future of search.
In the past Google has tried to do this with the help of Google Now, Apple did the same with Siri and Microsoft is relatively newer with its own digital assistance Cortana which is heavily embedded into Windows 10 and is being billed as the biggest feature if Windows 10.

Recently Google unveiled that its next iteration of Android operating system Android M will be featuring Now on Tap – another form of contextual search that promises to leave other miles behind. With older Google Now, the search engine giant learnt to read your mails, and notify you about your meetings, upcoming flights, package deliveries and more
Well, there have been rumors in the past regarding Apple’s search engine and this got more heat when Apple confirmed that it is having its own Web crawler to look into websites and index their data for it own use.
At last week’s Apple World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, Apple unveiled a new intelligent part of the upcoming iOS 9 – new and improved Spotlight. Spotlight is the build-in search tool for iOS that gives you information by “deep searching” apps. Now read the next line carefully: everything that is searched or done in proactive Siri, is done your device and you never leave it. So, what does it mean?

It simply means that Apple is trying its best to keep the users away from the search engines (read Google). Apple has now allowed the developers to “expose” their app’s data for indexing in the Spotlight user searches for the first time in iOS 9. Now users can search for the “Superman” inside the app and Spotlight will take them directly to the IMDb page or other useful cards without leaving the app.
The Spotlight API is a new kind of search engine that has deep searching and access to the apps that are made available for indexing by their makers. So Apple doesn’t want its users to visit the Google search and is trying to provide everything inside the spotlight search. The new Spotlight also uses a number of third-party services like Wikipedia, YouTube, Amazon and Netflix.
With the promise that the user data stored by Spotlight never leaves your device, so with increased privacy concerns, this could be a big thumbs up.
As the history tells, Google is little perturbed by its rivals, but this is something that would definitely bring some worries to Mr. Larry Page.
